CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
PROJECT LOCATION
Dunwoody, GA
PROJECT DATE
2015-2017
The improvements aim to alleviate congestion, improve safety, and enhance infrastructure in a key part of Dunwoody. Through careful planning, efficient traffic management, and modern construction techniques, the project will create a more efficient and safer intersection for all users.
This was the first signalized intersection improvement project designed, procured, and completed by the City of Dunwoody. Lowe staff serving on-site with the City managed all phases of plan development and procurement, as well as construction management and inspection. This project improved pedestrian safety and bike access and created a more efficient flow of traffic. Throughout construction, the roadway was open to traffic. Before this project, stormwater runoff primarily drained into and via an open channel along the roadway shoulders. Improvements included adding catch basins, drop inlets, hood and grate, junction boxes, and two new stormwater detention ponds. This further involved installing 3,140 linear feet of new storm pipe and the replacement of 2,850 linear feet of aging 6-inch concrete pipe with a new 8-inch ductile iron water main.
