Job Summary:
Lowe Engineers is seeking a detail-oriented Survey CAD Technician to support our Survey team in the preparation of accurate and high-quality drawings for a variety of land development and infrastructure projects. This role is essential in transforming field data into precise deliverables that support engineering design and construction. The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills, an understanding of surveying principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare survey drawings, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and construction stakeout exhibits
• Process and draft field data collected from survey crews, including GPS and total station data
• Develop surfaces, contours, and alignments using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Assist with plat preparation, legal descriptions, and easement exhibits
• Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to meet project requirements
• Maintain drawing standards and ensure accuracy and quality control of deliverables
• Organize and manage project files and data within company systems
• Revise drawings based on redlines and client or team feedback
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of experience in survey drafting or related role preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required
• Understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and field data processing
• Experience with GPS data, point clouds, or LiDAR is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and subdivision plats
• Familiarity with data collectors and survey field equipment workflows
• Basic knowledge of GIS applications is a plus
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Demands:
Sit for extended periods, frequently stand and walk; Have manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination needed to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, telephones, calculators, copiers, and topographic surveying equipment; Have corrected vision in order to review plans and specifications and perform other essential functions of the job
Environmental Factors:
Works indoors and out-of-doors year round. Works around traffic and automobile fumes. Incumbents may be subjected to dusts, fumes, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.
