Just as we are dedicated to building the communities we live in and around, Lowe is committed to supporting activities that enhance and serve the communities in which we live. Service is an inherent part of the Lowe culture. Lowe supports its employees in finding community service opportunities and organizing projects. Community involvement and volunteerism are an integral component of the culture at Lowe Engineers.   We believe giving back to the community is a part of earning our stripes for both Lowe and the organizations that we support.  Our volunteer activities boost morale, strengthen our team, and improve communications and relations among our employees.

Habitat for Humanity

Lowe staff spent the morning working with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes in our community. Each year over 12,000 volunteers provide more that 130,000 hours of services to build and renovate 50-60 houses! This gift of time saves Atlanta Habitat more than $2 million in labor costs each year.

STEM Outreach

Lowe Partner, Sally Riker, led a STEM outreach at her son’s elementary school. Sally spent the morning exposing engineering to these students through a structure building activity to stress the importance of STEM to younger generations. Sally states, “it’s such a great career path and can be fun, creative and challenging. This lesson on structures is the perfect age for kindergarten where they built their own models to take home and the finished products continuously surprise me with their creations.” Lowe is committed to STEM education for students in our community.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering

Lowe participates annually in the Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day put on by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia. This event is a half-day program in which we volunteer to educate girls in our community about the engineering field through various fun and exciting projects and activities. Our staff loves exposing these girls to engineering and are certain they will excel in all they do for the future of engineering! Check out our Facebook page to watch a video of some of the projects we did with the students at this event!

American Red Cross Donations

Lowe Partner, Jon Drysdale, participated in the City of Dunwoody blood drive. Jon frequently donates to the American Red Cross and encourages others to aid in saving lives by donating blood. Jon has donated over 4 gallons of blood in his lifetime and is actually a CMV negative pediatric blood donor.

Brookhaven Stream Cleanup

Lowe staff volunteered to participate in a stream cleanup event in Brookhaven, GA near Montclair Elementary School. This was a 2nd annual event in which we removed trash from the stream and helped make the city of Brookhaven streams safer and more beautiful for all its inhabitants. Our staff enjoyed this family-friendly event in recognition of Water Appreciation Day and look forward to more opportunities to volunteer our efforts to water clean ups around our community.
